OAXACA NO ESTÁ SOLA

On Oct. 29, Federal forces of the Mexican government attacked and killed three people in Oaxaca. This atrocity is but another occurrence of the ongoing state repression in the region.

The following day the E.Z.L.N. (Zapatista Army of National Liberation) issued a statement calling for a day of solidarity with the victims to let them know that they, Oaxaca, are not alone. On November 20, they ask that all highways and roads be closed, literally where possible & symbolically where not. Being the solitary voice of the Chicano and Chicana people on campus, we, el Movimiento Estudiantil Chicana/o de Aztlan, have taken it upon ourselves to participate in the closure.

Our tentative actions for Monday (11/20) are as follows: 1) we will hold a brief teach-in at Blegen House that will explain the Oaxaca situation in detail 2) after sundown, we will march in candle light from Blegen House to Main circle.

To close off the road we will need many bodies and to generate consciousness we will need many voices. Join us in telling the Mexican government that its actions are reprehensible! Join us in demanding justice! Join us in letting the people of Oaxaca know that they are not alone!

On behalf of M.E.Ch.A. de Vassar,

Mikey Velarde, Secretary
